Phaco Training Course
Cataract Academy offers a comprehensive Phaco training program tailored to the individual needs of each surgeon. The goal is to build confidence and competence for independent surgical practice. Training is conducted by highly experienced surgeons using advanced equipment in a step-by-step format.
Available Courses:
Basic Phaco Course: For surgeons confident in ECCE/SICS who want to start Phaco. (20 cases)
Advanced Phaco Course: For surgeons seeking to enhance their skills in advanced Phaco techniques by doing more Cases.
Duration:
Courses range from 1 to 3 weeks and can be customized based on the surgeon’s experience and goals.
Course Structure:
Introduction: Observation of live surgeries and theoretical training in Phaco dynamics. Beginners start with wet lab practice.
Basic Steps: One-on-one training in scleral or corneal entry, capsulorhexis, trenching, stop and chop, irrigation and aspiration, and IOL implantation. Surgeries are recorded for review and feedback.
Evaluation: Ongoing performance assessment with video reviews to improve technique.
Advanced Training: Includes direct chop, bimanual I/A, foldable lens implantation, and use of capsular tension rings.
